Strikers lose to Chiddingfold Rubies

Outstanding Service Award

On an exceptionally hot and sunny day, Chiddingfold CC Women’s Softball Rubies won the toss and elected to field first - a bold decision in the searing conditions.

The Strikers managed 292 without loss from their 16 overs - a respectable total. Some impressive batting from V Bertrand Smith with 3 boundaries and a strike rate of 130.

In reply Chiddingfold put on a dominant display with the bat, reaching 354 without loss in their 16 overs. J Milan smashed 25* off just 10 balls, and the strong batting continued as Chiddingfold took full advantage of the fast outfield and warm weather.

Grayshott’s bowlers found it tough going in the heat, with no wickets falling across the innings, meaning no wickets fell in either innings, a rare sight in any format.

All finished off with a spread worthy of a bake off final, and some drinks to toast the spirit of cricket!
