I'Anson Midweek Finals Day at Broxhead

We were thrilled to host Finals Day for the I'Anson Cup Competitions Women’s Midweek Softball League at Broxhead on Sunday 26th July.

After a light shower to dampen down the dusty outfield, and some TLC for the Astros, the sunshine and blue skies returned as the finalists arrived.

Blackheath, Chiddingfold, Headley, Whitehill & Bordon and Fernhurst competed for bragging rights in the inaugural competition.

Chiddingfold & Fernhurst faced off in the lower field semi-final, while Blackheath and Headley, Whitehill & Bordon played in the upper field semi-final. There were wickets and wides, boundaries and catches as each team played their hearts out. Chiddingfold and Blackheath took the semi final wins to go through to the final.

Fernhurst and Headley, Whitehill & Bordon got the 3rd/4th place playoff underway and it was a close match, with Fernhurst taking 3rd place.

After setting an eye watering target of 385 in the first innings of the Final, Blackheath took to the field as Chiddingfold went into bat. With everyone cheering from the boundary, the Midweek League Final was won by Blackheath. Congratulations on the win 🏆

It was a fantastic day of women’s cricket all around. Thank you to our League Umpires for officiating - including our very own recently qualified Sonia, and Mr Heath - and to the scorers and supporters.

A day like today only happens because a (small but mighty) team of people volunteer their time and energy to create something special for everyone involved. Whether you baked, hoovered, painted, directed cars, made tea, baked, served a pint, stacked chairs, set out a boundary, washed up, or did something else to help out today…THANK YOU SO MUCH.
