Get Involved with Junior Cricket

Outstanding Service Award

We have a number of small but important roles to help in the smooth running of the club and particularly pertinent to the junior section.

Can you or your partner help? More details about the roles can be found below, or get in touch with Graham Sampson to find out more, youthmanager@grayshottcc.co.uk.

Training and support will be given for all roles.

Safeguarding Officer

One of our Safeguarding Officers will be stepping down early next year and we are now starting the process to find a replacement enabling a timely handover.

The role, which can mainly be undertaken from home, is promotes and maintains ECB safeguarding guidance. Predominantly an administrative role, including verifying DBS applications from the club and ensuring all our Coaching team accreditations are up to date. These typically involve DBS (annually), Safeguarding and First Aid Certification (Three yearly).

The role is part of the Club Committee which typically meets online and attendance is not always required, and is often online.

Most of the activity with the role is undertaken between January and April of each year in advance of the season and estimated volunteer time is 15 hours per year.

Play Cricket Website Administrator

A simple way to support the club is from the comfort of your home. The club is in need of a volunteer to oversee the club’s Play Cricket website, where all the club’s fixtures and results are posted each season. Every cricket club has one of these websites which also captures all the stats for each player.

Most of the updating is undertaken for you but the role is to ensure all annual updates are undertaken and to manage season any interface discrepancies that materialise from the play cricket scoring app - which is a very simple process.

It is not an onerous role with typically just 15 mins activity per week during the cricket season and a couple hours pre-season, so typically 8/10 hours per year

Boys Junior Co-ordinator

With the continuing growth in junior cricket at the club we are looking for an individual to take up the role of Boys Co-ordinator working alongside our Safeguarding Officer, Junior Fixtures Secretary, Girls Co-ordinator and Youth Manager.

The role is mainly an administrative and organisational role with most of the activity able to be done from the comfort of your home. The role is key to the smooth running of the boys teams supporting our coaches and team managers. No coaching is involved with this role.

Good interpersonal skills and an appreciation of junior cricket is useful together with the ability to use online tools but not essential.

Handover training and ongoing support will be provided with a buddying option available.

In terms of commitment the role is typically 10 hours between September and December with a further 15 hours between January and May. So typically 25 hours per year

Our Club is run solely by volunteers, the more we have - the wider we can spread the load and the less onerous it is for everyone! Please get in touch if you'd like to take up any of these roles, or there's some other way you'd like to volunteer and support the club.
