Another scorcher for the Strikers

What a scorcher! The Striker's game against Frensham CC was at a beautiful ground with a friendly opposition. Although the boundary was the biggest we’ve ever played, the Strikers did a fantastic job in the field as the home side regularly found the boundary. It was so hot that we all needed to rest after fielding any balls but there were stops in close and at the boundary.
Some strong bowling limited the home side and safe hands behind the wicket from Captain Susie stopped further boundaries. She had a tricky job to do with large boundaries, difficult field placement by the tree and juggling bowlers but she handled it all brilliantly! A strong 336 was notched up by the home side.
The mid innings melon offered by Frensham was extremely welcome!
Strong batting by Grayshott’s opening pair of Susie & Lucy got us off the mark with excellent running for 2 when it didn’t quite carry for 4. Despite some incredible bowling amd slick fielding by the opposition, the two Kates continued the strong running and whilst the heat took its toll, those singles and twos kept coming, with a smattering of fours, due to great watching, backing up and calling by all batters.
Although she got stung just before going out to bat, Elly bravely soldiered on, adding to the total with Nikki. The final pair of Vanessa and Zoe did their best to notch up the runs with great running and a few fours too - the total was a respectable 312.
The final score didn’t reflect the true teamwork, great skills, super captaincy and our tenacity to keep fighting to the end with truly amazing running between the stumps as a real strength today.
Thanks to Frensham for providing yummy post-match treats. Congratulations for the win and thanks for being fantastic hosts - we can’t wait to go back again!
