2025: A Year to Celebrate at Grayshott Cricket Club

2025 was a fantastic year for Grayshott Cricket Club, full of success on the pitch, growth across the club, and memorable moments we’ll be talking about for years to come.

On the Pitch Success for Men

Our 1st XI secured promotion back to Division 1, capping off a brilliant season that also saw the 2nd XI finish 3rd and the 3rd XI 5th in their respective leagues. The 4th XI provided plenty of opportunities through friendlies, meaning over 100 players represented the club across the summer.

We celebrated some remarkable individual achievements too:

  • Alistair Wheble passed 6,000 career runs

  • A stunning 76 in a special swansong match*

  • An extraordinary 9 for 19 bowling performance in the same game

  • An Over 50s international debut for Zimbabwe for one of our own

Women’s Cricket Growth and Opportunity

Our women’s softball section had its biggest year yet, with 36+ active members, 28 fixtures, a festival and a charity event. Both the Chargers (Div 1) and Strikers (Div 2) finished 4th in their leagues.

2025 also marked the inaugural season of the Northern Stars, our women’s hardball partnership with Aldershot, creating a pathway for U15/16 players and women entering hardball cricket.

Junior Cricket Celebrates Record Numbers and League Success

In junior cricket, participation continues to grow, with numbers approaching 450 children, including a landmark 100 girls. We ran 18 junior teams and organised 227 matches.

League winners included:

  • U12 Foxes – SE Tier 1 League

  • U14 Pelicans – Tier 3 League

  • U11 Girls – Brian King Hampshire Cup (retained)

All Stars and Dynamos once again proved hugely popular, with an outstanding 64% return rate.

Club Development & Community

Off the pitch, we welcomed Amesbury School as our Club Sponsor, installed a new artificial pitch at Grayshott, and selected The Fountain Centre in Guildford as our 2025 charity, raising money in support of their incredible work.

We were proud to host our local MP, celebrate three Sport Haslemere award winners, see a junior selected for the MCC Lord’s U14 team, and have four members shortlisted for Hampshire Cricket Collective Volunteer Awards.

Our partnership with Hampshire Cricket continued, hosting District and County fixtures, while work progresses to grow Disability Cricket.

Volunteers: The Heart of the Club

None of this would be possible without our volunteers, now approaching 100 individuals from coaches and captains to our two outstanding grounds teams, whose tireless work often goes unseen but keeps our facilities at the highest standard.

As we look ahead to 2026, with stable leadership across all men’s teams, entry into the Village Cup, continued growth in women’s cricket and junior development, Grayshott CC remains a thriving, welcoming club providing cricket for all.

Here’s to another brilliant season ahead. 💚🏏
