Strikers in Winning Form

3rd X1

This week's match from the Strikers - poetry in motion, both on pitch - and for the match report!

Grayshott Strikers: A Cricket Tale in Rhyme (Triple Header Triumph – May Heat Edition)

On a sun-soaked field in the month of May,

Three games in one - a cricket buffet!

But first up to bat (well, not right away),

The Strikers took field on their home matchday.

Farncombe Wanderers came, bats in hand,

And laid their claim with a batting stand.

But Skipper Edwards, with coin in air,

Chose to field - a tactical flair.

Though Farncombe swung with stylish grace,

Grayshott gave firm and feisty chase.

279 the visitors claimed,

But five fine wickets the Strikers named.

With sharp-eyed catches, Vanessa shone,

Only her second match - already full-grown!

Trace with her line, so true and tight,

Kept the batters guessing, kept them in fright.

And oh! That flash - a blur, a blur!

Keeper Susie, quick as a whirr,

Snatched one clean with lightning speed,

A catch so swift, a fan’s true need.

Then drinks were had, a water pause,

Before Grayshott chased to raucous applause.

Julia and Susie, the opening pair,

Placed each shot with thoughtful care.

They set the stage, they built the base,

Their calm brought rhythm, flow, and grace.

Next came Bee and Trace to dance,

With flashing bats and boundary prance.

Six times the ropes were struck with flair,

Adding 29 with style and dare.

Vanessa returned, now with the blade,

And Marija joined the scoring parade.

Another 29 soon lit the sheet,

Vanessa’s five fours? A debut treat!

Then came Becca and new recruit Nina,

Four overs left - the heat no keener.

But they fired shots, they called with style,

And made those final runs worthwhile.

A six from the skipper! Boundaries galore!

And Nina? A gem we’ll see much more.

With 325 the score complete,

The Strikers stood on their home ground’s seat.

They’d chased, they’d caught, they’d batted bold,

And wrote a story, proud and gold.

With brownies rich and bubbles high,

They cheered their win beneath the sky.

Triple headers? Bring ‘em fast!

Grayshott’s got the team to last.

Same next week? Oh yes, indeed -

With passion, teamwork, skill, and speed!
