More History in the Making

Back in 2020, a handful of women picked up a bat and ball and started playing softball cricket at Grayshott. With patient coaches, plenty of enthusiasm, and more than a little anti-bac (remember those days? ), women’s cricket at Grayshott was born.

Fast-forward to 2026, and recently we fielded THREE women’s teams on the same day. With a squad now more than 40 players strong, the results were 1 win and 2 losses, but the scorecards only tell part of the story.

Congratulations to the Chargers on their nail-biting victory , and well done to the Strikers and Raiders for the energy, commitment and spirit they showed throughout the day.

From the very beginning, women’s cricket at Grayshott has been #MoreThanAGame.

It’s about captaincy debuts, first wickets, first boundaries and great catches. It’s about sisters playing together (and captaining two different teams!), players opening the batting for the first time, bowling that crucial over, walking out to the crease, scoring runs, umpiring, baking cakes, cheering from the boundary, scoring, and simply showing up.

Every player contributes something special, and together they help to make this club what it is.

That’s why this feels special. Not because of the results, but because of how far we’ve come and what we’ve built together. To every player, coach, volunteer and supporter who has been part of the journey, thank you. You have helped create something truly special.

Here’s to the memories already made, the friendships forged, and the many, many more cricket days still to come.
