The sun was shining on Sunday, the birds were singing and we all had a lovely afternoon at Pirbright. As as much as we'd like to leave it there, we should probably mention the cricket, where the Chargers were in action.
Grayshott won the toss, a victory to which we hang our hats! That unfortunately for Grayshott was where the success ended.
Selecting to field first, Grayshott stepped up, wickets were taken, 5 in total, with some phenomenal catches and bails falling. Fielding was tight throughout however Pirbright brought their 'A' game. With precision batting, finding gaps with nearly every ball, solid running and some fantastic unstoppable hits for 6, Pribright ended the session on 318.....a hefty total to follow.
Grayshott had to go all out, bring it like never before, take risks and throw everything and the kitchen sink at it (in hindsight, maybe trying to hit the ball with a kitchen sink may have been more successful!) Pirbright's bowling was consistent, steady and on target. 7 wickets fell and despite a vailant effort, reaching the boundary on numerous occasions and running like there was no tomorrow, Grayshott ended on 253. Congrats to Pirbright on the win.
Saying that, plenty of worse ways to spend a few hours in the sunshine....onto the next one with heads held high!
