Al Grant - MCC Community Hero for 2026

Many congratulations to our Women's Club Captain Al Grant who has been selected as one of the 2026 MCC’s Community Cricket Heroes, which is run in conjunction with The Cricketer magazine.
The award celebrates the grassroots game and the thousands of people who dedicate their time to support cricket in their communities. Now in it's fourth year, Al was one of eleven selected from a strong field of nominations across all of the country recognising all the time she dedicates to the club. A judging panel including Mike Gatting (former England and Middlesex captain) and Ricky Reynolds (Head of Programmes, MCC), set out to recognise and thank those who go the extra mile for community cricket, and to find those individuals who have made an outstanding achievement to the grassroots game and their local cricket community.
Al was invited to Day 2 of the England Pakistan game at Lords in recognition of this achievement.
Al was also recently recognised on the Lucy Ambache show on Radio Solent recently live on air as their sport legend of the week.
Well done Al, thoroughly deserved.
