Kicking off the U13 Pelican & U12 Foxes season

It was a great start to 1st Pelican U13 and Foxes U12 training session. The sun was out with good attendance.

This meant we could dust off the cobwebs and start preparing for the season ahead . Ex-Surrey CCC and England International Martin Bicknell offered to do a short Q&A with the boys. It was really engaging and hugely encouraging to see some testing and probing questions from the squad. Here is a flavour of the questions asked;

• What one bit of advice would you give to a young player?

• How to you prepare for the next ball if the previous one was hit for six?

• What preparation did you do before a game?

• Who was the greatest player you played against?

• What was your career highlight?

Martin impressed on the boys that doing the basics well was key to success. It is so important to have the fundamentals correct, such as a solid forward defence, or a repeatable bowling action. I hope all the boys enjoyed it and took some learnings away from the session.
