Another hot day in North Cornwall so after some last minute shopping, most of the tourists headed to the beach for a quick dip and a game of beach cricket before heading off to Holsworthy for the final game of the tour.
It is circa 30 years since the Shotts last played Holsworthy so a certain irony in skipper for the day Graham Sampson who played in that last game. Holsworthy since then benefitting from a refurbished pavilion.
The Shotts batted first and were soon 4-2 before Hutchinson (54) and Sampson (77 not out) put on 86 with Wheble Snr (19 no) ensuring the Shotts reached a respectable total of 212 for 4 off their 35 overs. The innings included a six over the keeper’s head from Hutchinson
A tour weary team eventually bowled Holsworthy out for 166 in their final over with Wheble Jnr picking up 3 wickets, to secure the Shotts their third win of the tour. It was a challenging pitch as the home skipper realised when he got this absolute grubber from Larby. After the laughter the skipper had a second innings….
After some food the tourists headed back to Bude for the fines and presentations.
Once again many thanks to Andy Wheble for organising another excellent tour. Great fun and an opportunity to meet up with old and new friends.
