After a mainly cloudy day, the evening sun came out for our match away at Burridge on Spring Bank Holiday Monday.
We lost the toss and were put into bat. It was an ominous start with one of Burridge's star bowlers dismissing both our opening batters in the first over. James SP and Ned came in and both defended well and scored some runs before Ned was bowled. On came Finlay who hit 3 Fours in his first three balls. They formed a great partnership before James SP was bowled for 17 with Finlay retiring on 30. Our final 3 batters added a few more runs and this, together with extras, took our total to 92.
We had an encouraging start with James SP taking 2 wickets in the first over, bowling one player followed by a great catch from James W. The next pair proved to be far more stubborn but eventually Ned bowled their third batsman for 19. There were no further wickets and Burridge then proceeded to reach our total after 13 overs.
Overall our team did well with good fielding and very few overthrows but ultimately we were beaten by a stronger team. Thanks to Neil who did a great job umpiring and Andy for his coaching.
