Grayshott U15 Foxes got their first win of the season against table topping Gosport. A beautiful evening saw the young U15 side revert back the good old days when they used to win every game!

Ali finally won a toss and quickly decided to bat first. Charlie and Ali started steadily before going through the gears against the accurate Gosport Openers. A few full tosses got the scoreboard ticking over and several ball hunts in the undergrowth was a sign of their dominance over the change bowlers.

Charlie took much of the early strike and was first to retire for a well-made 42 including 8 fours. Ali was joined by Guy who had a few issues with his timing but gave good support to Ali who was by now in full flow. He raced to his retirement of 40 scoring 20 runs off his last 6 balls including a big six into the trees.

Ben came in to join Guy for the final 6 overs. Guy was very well caught at fly-slip for 13 and Ben started to strike the ball hard to the fence. Hitting three fours in succession off the returning opener before being bowled for a swashbuckling 19.

Hayden and Lucas saw the innings to a close and Grayshott had made a challenging total of 138-2 off 20 overs.

Refreshments were taken and a relaxed Grayshott side took to the field. Charlie and Hayden opened the bowling and once Hayden found his line he took the important wicket of Beth Clarke for 9. Well caught by Seb.

Guy and Ali R replaced the openers and both were in fine form. Guy (3-8) ripped through the heart of the Gosport team taking 3 quick wickets, bowling two of them. Ali R (2-8) mixed up his pace well and picked up two of his own wickets thanks to catches from Guy and Hayden.

Everyone got a bowl as the Gosport tail struggled to keep up with the run rate and Ben finished off the innings with his 3rd ball to collect Grayshott’s first win of the season.

A super win underlining the importance of the top 3 batting well to give the lower order the chance to score freely at the end. Well played boys.
