Even the valiant bowling and running between wickets of our last pair Max Grayson and Fergus Dean couldn't prevent a narrow loss 179-162 in a well played match. Nine wickets for Fernhurst but tight bowling and fielding kept the Pelicans runs down even with their 10 wicket haul.
Alex Evans and Harrison Neaves added 15; Henry Bahaire and Joshua Budgen 11, Oliver Sansum and Felix Wright adding 19 and Fergus Dean and Max Grayson adding 18.
Initially electing to bowl, Harrison led out the team with Felix keeping for the first ten overs and Jacob the second ten; both making great stops.
Jacob Morris and Denton Durakli-Grace opened the bowling Jacob taking a wicket and Denon two but Fernhurst still finding runs.
Harrison had a lovely wicket maiden in his first over before he and Alex kept the visitors down to 14 off fours overs.
Henry and Joshua kept things tight with only 12 added off their four and a great leg spin taking middle stump for Henry.
Oliver and Felix faced some big hitters adding 35 in the fourth pairing before Max and Fergus restrained the visitors to only 7 off four overs with a superb wicket for Fergus and a fabulous four wicket haul for Max. Well done!
Ultimately the game was in the balance of wides and no balls with Fernhurst giving away 28 to our Pelicans 43. Looks like we're working on bowling accuracy next week...Thank you or a lovely mornings cricket.
