Grayshott got their season off to a great start in this Easter weekend game, with both sides fielding 1st XI players, in what turned out to be a great game of cricket.
Stand in Skipper for the day Stuart Kennedy lost the toss and was put in the field handing the ball to 3rd XI debutants Guy Drake and Barrie Owen who did not dissappoint both taking a wicket in their first spells.
Plant joined Andrews (58)at the crease to establish a partnership but the introduction of Toby Joyce to the Grayshott attack saw a quick flurry of wickets, with Toby taking four wickets in his nine over spell. At 122 for eight the omens looked good for the Shotts but Crouch and Ilyas (51) had other ideas with a 82 run partnership before Crouch was run out. Puttenham eventually all mout following another run out for 207 in the final over.
In reply, The Shotts got off to a bad start losing Phillimore early on, but Wheble and Judge settled the nerves with a partnership of 75 before Wheble went for 20. The skipper Kennedy then joined Judge for what turned out to be the match winning partnership of 105 before Judge went 5 short of his century with an excellent knock of 95.
Waller joined the skipper in his first game after injury who both added a further 23 runs to the total. Owen Snr went for 9 but it was left to Kennedy unbeaten on 55 to steer his side home.
