After a bye last round, the second XI were at home against Elstead and were looking to back up a good win against Tilford. A second win at the coin toss saw the away side put in to bat first, with openers Egan and Holland making a positive start and Elstead reaching 30 for no wicket. Both Grayshott openers bowled well, finding the edge and beating the bat on numerous occasions, until Gregory taking the middle and off stumps of Holland for 16.
Elstead looked to rebuild before Andy “Leverock” Wheble (2-21) took an unbelievable c&b to dismiss Sheppard for 14 and soon after had Egan caught at gully for 18 and the home side were right on top, with Elstead 64/5. See the video clip here
. Keith and Sheppard snr brought Elstead back in to the game, with the next three wickets falling for 89 runs, before Lang (2-42), Ford (3-42) and Gregory (3-24) cleaning up the tail, with Elstead all out in the 45th over for 153.
The run chase was never in doubt with another classy batting display from Matt Jackson, who saw off some very good bowling to make an unbeaten 81. Never looking in too much trouble Jackson dispatched the ball to areas of the field and finding the boundary 16 times, making batting look effortless. He was well supported by McBain 20, Phillimore 27 and the flamboyant Hannam 9*.
