Round 3 of the Surrey Slam and we welcomed Worlesdon & Burpham to the sportsfield.
To say that there were some late selection issues would be somewhat of an understatement but we did eventually field 11 players. My thanks to Nathan and Julian for stepping in at the last minute and for Charles for turning up eventually!
Toby had done the most important thing and won the toss, choosing to bat, buying the coach more time to arrange the troops!
Charlie Fry was unlucky to get a good one first up, bringing in Seb to join Matt Jackson. Seb went quickly caught behind before the Skipper Toby(33) and Matt(37) built a solid and fast scoring partnership of 53. Both hit a couple of sixes as they looked to put bat on ball. Both had a little bit of luck as Worplesdon gifted a couple of chances but the pair got the score onto 73 before Matt was bowled.
Will Farrar joined Toby adding 27 before both fell in quick succession to Foulds.
Ali and Tom Lang then started to build the next partnership, it took them both a couple of balls to get going but then the fireworks came out.
Ali hitting two big sixes and 4 fours in his 36 before getting a shooter. Tom Rotated the strike and picked up 2 boundaries of his own on the way to an unbeaten 17.
Grayshott completing their 20 overs with 165-6.
In Reply, the Worplesdon openers made a steady start putting on 24 against the nagging line of Oliver Weekes and Charles Brayshaw. Ollie picked up the first wicket, caught by Julian before something of a collapse. The visitors lost 4 wickets for 3 runs. Ollie picked up 3 wickets with the help from deep midwicket pouching 3 skiers. Nathan Phillimore was very busy for 5 minutes.
That effectively ended the contest and Toby was able to rotate his attack. Charles, Julian and Toby all picked up a wicket whilst Seb claimed 2 of his own. Tom Lang had a good game behind the sticks.
Worplesdon made 131-8 in their 20 overs. Grayshott winning by 24 runs and move to 2nd in the group table.
Thanks to Yvonne Burrage for Scoring and Paul Heath for Umpiring.
