It was a special day on Saturday for Grayshott Cricket Club, for two reasons.
A club XI played a 60 over match against a Peter Clapham XI led by Gary Clapham in memory of Peter who was a true legend at the club.
It was the second memorial game but this year the occasion had VIPs with several of the 1969 Double winning cup side present, recalling their achievements from 50 years ago, when the side won the I’Anson Cup and Stevens cup, led by Geoff Tribe and Harry (Spud) Murphy. The side are pictured here
Organised by Club President Phil Coleshill who along with wife Kathy ensured the afternoon got off to a great start with Champagne and Canapés. Several of the double cup winning side were present and pictured above. Each player was presented with a photo of the side together with a club tie by Phil.
On behalf of the 69 side Spud Murphy recalled some fond memories none more so than of Peter Clapham who was a part of the double winning side.
The game played in great spirit was won for the second year by the club XI with everyone enjoying the infamous “Grayshott Tea”, the ladies of club laying on an excellent spread.
The man of the match award went to Peter Dickenson with an excellent bowling display together with a half century.
A great club day, with fond memories shared by so many. Some photos of the day to follow.
