Geoff Tribe who served Grayshott Cricket Club so well both on and off the field, sadly passed away recently, thereby ending a 60 year association with the club.
He is best remembered on the field of play as the captain of the club’s I’Anson Cup winning side in 1969, ending a period of 40 years since the club previously won the coveted trophy. 1969 was a special year as the Shotts also won the Stevens Cup, completing the infamous double, with Geoff an integral part of that side. Geoff is featured in the photo above centre front row holding the I’Anson Cup.
Geoff skippered the Shotts for a period of eight years. In 1997 Geoff also became President of the club until 2015. Geoff was a regular at the Sportsfield on a Summer Saturday afternoon watching the Shotts play and offering to anyone who would listen some great advice on cricket.
Geoff is pictured below ringing the bell presented to him in recognition of his service to the club in 2016. He was a true gentleman and will be sorely missed by everyone.
Geoff’s funeral is at 1.30pm on Wednesday 12th February 2020 at St Luke’s Church, Grayshott and afterwards at Hindhead Golf Club.
